Admission Policies

The admission policy at GenesisU has been designed to select students who have the potential to do college-level work. Therefore, to be admitted to a GenesisU graduate degree program, a prospective student must submit a transcript showing evidence of an earned bachelor’s degree and schedule an interview with staff.

Acceptance to GenesisU does not automatically mean you are admitted to a degree program. Students that are accepted, are done so provisionally, and are not considered fully matriculated students until they have generally passed 6 credits worth of courses.

International Students

International applicants to GenesisU whose first language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency.

The following may be used to demonstrate English language proficiency: A minimum total score of 57 on the paper-delivered Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT), or 61 on the Internet Based Test (iBT); 6.0 on the International English Language Test (IELTS); 44 on the Pearson Test of English Academic Score Report; 95 on the Duolingo English Test; or a high school diploma completed at a school where the medium of instruction is English.

For other options, prospective students may contact the Admissions.

These scores will be reviewed as part of the admissions process.

Transfer Credits

A total of 30 credits are required to earn a graduate degree. At least 50% of the degree credit hours must be earned from GenesisU.

Transfer Credit Policies

  • Transfer credit is granted only for courses for which a grade equivalent to a “B” or better has been earned. Courses in which a grade of “pass” is received must be certified by the school as being equivalent to a “B” or higher in order to be accepted in transfer.
  • Transfer credit will not be evaluated or denied solely on the source of accreditation of the sending institution.
  • Transcripts from foreign institutions may require a foreign credential evaluation through a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) evaluator.

If a student is pursuing a degree, an official transcript evaluation will be performed to determine the number of transfer credits that will be granted for previous graduate-level work.

Acceptance of Genesis University Credits: Acceptance of credits from Genesis is up to the receiving institution. A student who anticipates transferring to another institution should first contact the other institution to determine whether or not their credit hours will transfer. Policies governing the transfer of credit vary greatly from school to school.
