Program Description

The Master of Arts in Jewish Studies (MAJS) at Genesis University offers a flexible, interdisciplinary degree within a faith-based framework. The program fosters interdisciplinary thinking and learning by exploring Judaism and its interaction with contemporary contexts. Designed for learners aiming to deepen their understanding of Jewish traditions and their applications, the MAJS also offers a Yiddish Specialization, which allows students to explore Ashkenazic heritage through courses such as the History of Yiddish, Yiddish language study, and the art of Yiddish translation. This optional specialization requires students to select four courses from a tailored set, immersing them in the linguistic, cultural, and historical dimensions of Yiddish.

Course Structure:

  • Complete at least one course from each major learning outcome area.
  • Recommended: 2–3 courses per area for a well-rounded education.
  • Complete the JST 600 Seminar capstone course.
  • Students pursuing the Yiddish Specialization must select four tailored Yiddish courses, aligning them with overall program outcomes.
